‘Victim blaming has been normalized in our culture. There are endless instances of threats made to victims, and questions asked about how the victim got into the situation rather than putting the blame on the perpetrator and having a culture that says, “just don’t rape people.” Rape is a violent violation that is not all about uncontrollable desire but about power and taking someone’s right to freedom away. Who are they to decide that someone deserves to be violated because they are drunk or passed out? Who they you to decide that someone should be violently punished for trying to look attractive? Why shouldn’t that have to learn how to earn it and be held to a standard above animals?
